Emerging top from division 5 during 2007, Republic poly has advance to division 3. This was a factor due to the weight we felt pulling down our shoulders.
During the first quarter tension was high, all our thoughts were caught up, nervousness, anxiety, and everyone was basically feeling very tense. You could see it in our faces, but our focus gave no excuse to not perform on court.
We started off with a good lead with our sharp shooters, a good combination of height and swift, Zainab and Cheer took on their shots with breeze, putting in almost 100% clear shots.
During the second courter, the shooters were still doing a good job and our defenders were rapid in bringing every loose ball and also rebound ball back to the shooters, the game during the second quarter wasn’t as composed as the first quarters, there was a lot of loopholes coming from the mid court.
Within the third and fourth quarters, you could see it in everyone eyes that this game wasn’t just a game, it was important;we were capable of achieving a victory against them. The defender with their quick reflexes such as Naz; our team captain and Soleha played a huge role in turning most of the ball over to the shooters which loose their cool due to intimidation from the opponent, but this didn’t stop players such as Paula, having a good vision in knowing how to feed in the ball to the shooters played a major role in assisting the defenders bringing down the ball.
You could hear sheer motivation within the court itself, pushing one another not to give up and not to lose focus with such an opponent.
Today’s game republic poly won 32- 39 but it wasn’t an easy fight, everyone was working hard, knowing their purpose of their position in the game. With that we are very glad and thankful not only allocation us in division 3, this shows that republic poly is recognize in the netball association, but also winning our first game.
It’s not just the first game; it’s a new beginning to every experience we may seize.
