On Monday, it was our first match for this year Pol-ite games. RP VS NP.

We're down at the first 2 quarters and we caught up from the 3rd quarter. Players on court fought hard, defend tight, and converted the shots.

But we cannot deny that we committed many many MANY mistakes.

Team, remember this,

Girls, in a few days time, to be exact, 2 more days, Pol-ite 09/10 will start.
WE CAN DO IT.

SHOOTERS, STEADY AND PUT IN THE SHOT.
MIDFIELDERS, VISION WIDE, STEADY AND PLAY OUR OWN GAME WITH OUR OWN PACE.
DEFENDERS, STICK CLOSE, GO FOR EVERY REBOUND AND BLOCK OUT AFTER THE SHOOTERS SHOOT.
Remember at KL we train hard, play hard as a team.
All the trainings, fitness that we had will not go down the drain.
Go everyone, play your best and leaving the court knowing that you did your best!

there was about 16 of us that turn up on a lovely sunny morning, and we headed to the terminal to take the bumper boat.

we all arrived there and manage to get hold of an auntie that would lend us a bike for 4bucks each for the WHOLE DAY , sponsored by our coach Tony.
so we got our bikes, and erm it started to rain, like heavy rain but it didnt dampen our mood we still continued cycling in the rain.

we made our way to the coastal boardwalk to enjoy the scenery of the sea when the rain had subsided, to bad our coach had to look after our bikes and the area was infested by mosquito, poor mr tony!

we made our way to the viewing centre after only climbing about 1000000 stairs, but trust me it was worth it, the view was magnificant we could see like the entire area, we also manage to catch a glimpse of species such as a blue bird, but it flew away by the noise we were making -.-, crabs, a big lizard, mud skipper etc.

after leaving mr tony for a good whole 1 hour we came back and ransack his bag which contain alot of food!

almost reaching at the end of the day, something unfortunate

happen samantha had a bad injury, she felt down and hurt her knee,

and there was a big cut, we could see so much blood oozing out, but thank god out of

the blue, a bunch of OBS CAMP instructor came to her rescue and bandage her up brought her back to the jetty.

samantha didnt require any stritches,coach , j and me kept her company in the hospital to get her medication and she was so happy when she had a choice to have stitches or not, but at the end of the day she was smiling, the doctor at CGH put some kind of glue to make sure her wound would close up ASAP.

after 3 days of day camp,

all of us were more bonded and we had time to catch up and also

get to know one another more.

there will be more updates on the camp but for now enjoy the pictures.

Republic Poly 2 V.S Singapore Sports School A

It is one of the best game played by Team 2.
The defence was great and we managed to keep the score difference between us and the SSS low.
For the first quarter, our score difference was only around 6-7 goals.
And we managed to keep the score difference for each quarters to maintain not more than 20 goals.
Team work done between Iffa and Qihui was great,
as many rebounds and tips were done when defending.
But we were very rush at most of the time on court, and thus, there were some bad passes.
And this was one of the mistakes that the team always have when on court.

A target was made to the team to hit the 10goal mark, and we did it.

Our next match is with Adidas Sneakers Light,
on this coming Saturday, 3.30pm at Court 3.

Let's make more improvements and not let the "fire" within us to extinguish! (:

and this coming saturday would be our game with

netball hearts.

we may top the table now just because many teams havent played as many

games as we did and we shouldnt take this as an advantage.

4 games down and 3 more games to go.

lets fight hard and do all it takes to win all the following games.

we know we can do this,

just believe in yourself.

This was a tough game for us, looking at the score.

We were down by 3 people, for the game.

The first quarter, most of us, weren't settled in the game. Coach commented that we were really rushing ourselves and had quite a number of bad passes.

Second quarter, we did much better! Defence was tight and Attackers really tried their best to bring the ball in for the shooters. We did great because the the score for the second quarter was 3-4(if I'm not wrong).

Overall, the team did better this time round, with everyone having FIRE. (:

Even though we lost, at least we made improvements.
Don't let our morale get low, keep pressing on.
We will do our best for the next coming game with SingaporeSportsSchool A on 23rd June.
& keep the fire burning on. (:

& Reminder for next training.
On this coming Wednesday, 11th June 2008 with Team1.

republic poly vs aciers
45-33.

despite republic poly wining the game,
our girls was sure that we rested on our laurels and
our performance wasnt fantastic.
the first two quaters we were leading with a different of 5 goals,
and aciers sharp shooters wasted no balls and caught up with the score difference.
at the thirds quater when we were down merely by 6 goals.

with perserverance our girls kept on fighting and we manage to lead the game at the last
quater.

our defense was amazing that night bringing down balls,
Shane and Naz made a good pair in their team tactic.
alot more to improve on girls.

and experience builds team communication and better play on court."

Area Defense
GK often over commits to the top of goal circle
During their GK throw in, they tend to pass cross court.
Defense ( GD & WD esp) supports more when they r attacking
GS blocks and takes high passes ONLY.
GS shoots near only
GA plays a feeding-shooter / 3rd mid-court player
If GS is double guarded, the GA will use the advantage 2 split & gain space
Has difficulty bringing the ball down esp in the centre 3rd.

Llab10 hearts

have accurate passes
dont play long high slow passes
they come out very well to receive passes
Midcourt is fast
WA is a more dominant feeder.
GS runs out to the pocket areas often
GS goes out 2 draw GK & GD of extremes, leaving the GA free
Man2man defense very GOOD
GD ( bird) olays a supportive defender when their attack
C & GD did a double guard on the GA in 1st quarter
C & WD did a double guard on WA in 2nd quarter

these are the observations made from the games I watched yesterday.
Hope it comes in useful.

SPEED

generally old players with experience ( mid 20's, some young players)
their mid-court is the key of the entire team
During their turnovers, they played very LONG passes
Goal Shooter is the main shooter
Goal Shooter always run out to the pocket areas after their centre pass is taken.
Goal Shooter always runs out to bring the GK out & draws back in for a lobe in2 circle
Defense side for speed plays "man on man"
Key player of defense is GD or WD
Generally, their attack is stronger

SINGAPORE u-14's

all young players. younger than us of cos.
"man on man" defense.
the key player of defense is the GD
Goal defense has good vision & reading of the game
mid-court is fast but hesitant when feeding & passing
GA & GS are tall
GA is a better shooter , GS rather inconsistent
Likewise, GS runs out 2 pocket area aft centre pass
their shooter's rotation is good
GA & GS plays alot of 2nd pass

TAKE-AWAYS

don't play lobes with both teams
Take Sat's game against Bedok BB as a preperational game
& lastly, DONT BE INTIMIDATED BY THEM!

Aciers has not played a single game yet.
Cos their 1st game against 17s which was on Mon got postponed ( 17's cant make it)
then yesterday their game against Bedok CSC B also got postponed ( not enuff umpires).
yes i know i know.
So, games from yesterday were...
7.20pm - Speed Vs 14's. ( Divison 4)
8.40pm - Extremes Sonique Vs Llab10 Hearts ( Division 3)

i cant remember the score for Speed vs 14's. But Speed won 14's.
Extremes Vs Llab10 hearts. Extremes won. 49-30.

Emerging top from division 5 during 2007, Republic poly has advance to division 3. This was a factor due to the weight we felt pulling down our shoulders.

During the first quarter tension was high, all our thoughts were caught up, nervousness, anxiety, and everyone was basically feeling very tense. You could see it in our faces, but our focus gave no excuse to not perform on court.

We started off with a good lead with our sharp shooters, a good combination of height and swift, Zainab and Cheer took on their shots with breeze, putting in almost 100% clear shots.
During the second courter, the shooters were still doing a good job and our defenders were rapid in bringing every loose ball and also rebound ball back to the shooters, the game during the second quarter wasn’t as composed as the first quarters, there was a lot of loopholes coming from the mid court.

Within the third and fourth quarters, you could see it in everyone eyes that this game wasn’t just a game, it was important;we were capable of achieving a victory against them. The defender with their quick reflexes such as Naz; our team captain and Soleha played a huge role in turning most of the ball over to the shooters which loose their cool due to intimidation from the opponent, but this didn’t stop players such as Paula, having a good vision in knowing how to feed in the ball to the shooters played a major role in assisting the defenders bringing down the ball.

You could hear sheer motivation within the court itself, pushing one another not to give up and not to lose focus with such an opponent.

Today’s game republic poly won 32- 39 but it wasn’t an easy fight, everyone was working hard, knowing their purpose of their position in the game. With that we are very glad and thankful not only allocation us in division 3, this shows that republic poly is recognize in the netball association, but also winning our first game.

It’s not just the first game; it’s a new beginning to every experience we may seize.
